BCPI 508 Compliance
In 1998 the US Congress amended the Rehabilitation Act to require Federal agencies to make their electronic and information technology accessible to people with disabilities.
Section 508 was enacted to eliminate barriers in information technology, to make available new opportunities for people with disabilities, and to encourage development of technologies that will help achieve these goals. BCPI is able to help you meet these requirements and to create a Green Office Workspace that promotes accessibility.
Key goals in 508 Compliance:
Using color contrast for color blind accessibility: adequate foreground and background color contrast to make the content accessible to readers with color blindness.
Tabbing for screen reader accessibility using screen readers for accessibility of content for visually impaired learners.
Alt-text for images providing information on a graphics meaning and usage within the document.
Voiceover for vision disability accessibility. Recorded voiceover content helps to explain complexities on a page.
Accessible PDFs: Creating downloadable PDFs with proper tags and readable text (no scanned text or text images).
